How the check works

1

We ask the question your customer asks

An AI assistant with live web search gets the exact question: 'Who are the best {your trade} in {your town}? I want to hire one this week.' It researches and answers the way it would for a real customer.

2

We record who gets named

The businesses the assistant would recommend, in order, with your business highlighted if it appears. No simulation: this is the answer being given about your town right now.

3

We pull Google's local results for the same search

Your position in the top ten and your review count against the leaders, because the map pack and the AI answer are won with the same raw material: documentation and reviews.

AI visibility, answered

What does this AI visibility checker actually do?

It runs a real probe, live, when you click the button: an AI assistant with web search is asked the exact question a customer would ask ('who are the best plumbers in your town'), and we record which businesses it names. At the same time we pull Google's local results for the same search, your position, and how your review count compares to the leaders. Nothing is simulated or estimated.

Does this check ChatGPT specifically?

The live probe runs on Claude with real web search; ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity answer the same question from largely the same evidence: your Google Business Profile, your reviews, directories and your website. A business that is well documented tends to be named across engines, and one that is invisible to one is usually invisible to the rest. You can verify by asking ChatGPT the same question the tool shows you.

Why does AI visibility matter for a local business?

45% of consumers now use AI to find local businesses, up from 6% a year ago. When we audited licensed home-service contractors, 21 of 26 excellent businesses were named in zero AI answers for their own trade and town. Those recommendations are going to somebody; this tool shows you who.

My business didn't get named. How do I fix it?

AI answers follow documentation, not size or tenure. The fixes are concrete: a complete Google Business Profile (hours, photos, services), fresh reviews on a steady drumbeat, claimed directory listings, and a website that says plainly what you do and where. Our playbooks walk through every step free, or the GEO Agent runs the whole loop for you.

How is the AI visibility score calculated?

Half the score is the AI answer itself: whether the assistant named your business when asked live. The rest is Google's local results for the same search: your position in the top ten and how your review count compares with the median of the top three. One hundred means you own both surfaces.

Is this really free? What's the catch?

Three checks free, no signup and no card. The catch is honest: this is one probe in one town on one day, and the same check is what our GEO Agent runs weekly across your whole service area. If the free check stings, that is the product.
